N52 (MSV70) – N52N/N52K (MSV80) – N54 (MSD80/MSD81) – S65 (MSS60)
- Do I need an EWS/CAS delete?
- It does simply the conversion process on the MSV70 DME. The tune on the MSV70 DME needs to be updated to a Z4 tune anyways. Some companies that are familiar with the MSV70 DME tuning include the following – Bimmworks, 22RPD, and KasselPerformance.
- MSV80 and MSD81/81 do not require an EWS/CAS delete.
- Why does my E46/E39 RPM and Temperature gauge not work?
- This is related to the DME not having a compatible tune. Consult a DME tuner. Recommended tune for the MSV70 is from a Z4.
- Why does my electronic throttle not work?
- Resetting adaptations will most often resolve this issue.
- How do I check the oil level?
- Option 1 is to use the emulator by following the instruction sheet. The engine needs to be at operating temperature.
- Option 2 is to use a shop diagnostic tool. Refer to instruction sheet for more info.
- Why does my Haltech or AEM gauge cluster not connect?
- Try selecting various chassis models. The cluster needs to know if the tune is from a Z4, E9x, etc.
- Do I use my original key? Or the key from the E9x or E6x donor?
- The donor key will be left in the ignition key reader key slot after the initial installation. You will use your original key to start the car.
- Why do my RPMs look wrong?
- The N52/N54 is a 6-Cylinder engine. Make sure you have converted your gauge cluster to a 6-Cylinder version, or use a tachometer adapter.
- A V8 should use a 4-cylinder cluster coding plug.
- What accelerator pedal should I use?
- The E46, E39, E6x, or E9x pedals can all be used.
- Using the E46/E39 pedal will be an easier install.
- Can I use an Automatic transmission? (N52,N54)
- Our kit supports a standard manual transmission.
- However, we will work with you to get the Auto transmission working.
- Can I use a DCT transmission? (S65)
- No, our wiring only supports a standard manual transmission at the moment.
- Can I use a Bluetooth diagnostic tool?
- Short answer is Yes.
- The diagnostic tool needs to automatically sync with the DME. To do this, you will need to disconnect the CAN-bus wires from the chassis signals. Otherwise, the diagnostic tool will be getting mixed signal, not allowing it to automatically sync.
- Can I use air-conditioning?
- We offer an A/C module which will allow A/C to work normally. It needs to be a clutch-style compressor (N52 compressor).
- Will all of the original gauges work?
- Only the fuel economy gauge will not work.
M50 – S50 – M52 – S52
- Do I need an EWS delete?
- Yes, an EWS delete is required, unless the EWS wiring has been special ordered.
- Can I use an Auto transmission?
- Our wiring supports a standard manual transmission.
- Auto transmission wiring can be added for an additional cost (some exclusions apply).
- Why am I not getting fuel?
- Make sure your fuel lines are not reversed. This is a common mistake.
- Check fuses and relays.
- Why am I not getting spark?
- Have you verified by using starting fluid? Maybe it’s fuel related.
- Make sure the ECU does not have EWS.
- Is the crank sensor in working condition? A new sensor can also be faulty.
- Make sure the engine block grounded.
- Make sure the battery junction has power.
M52TU (MS42) – M54 (MS43 or MS45) – S54 (MSS54 or MSS54HP)
- What wiring do I need?
- You will need the main engine harness, transmission/o2 harness, and ignition coil harness. You should already have 4 out of the 5 ECU connectors.
- A manual transmission setup still needs the transmission/o2 harness wiring section. There is a manual and an automatic version of the transmission/o2 harness.
- A manual setup can use an Auto transmission/o2 harness, leaving the Auto-related parts disconnected.
- The transmission/o2 harness must be from the same chassis as the main engine harness.
- For example, an E39 engine harness must pair with an E39 transmission/o2 harness.
- Do I need an EWS delete?
- Yes, an EWS delete is required, unless the EWS wiring has been special ordered.
- Can I use an Auto transmission?
- The Auto transmission wiring is included with you main engine harness and transmission/o2 harness already.
- Why am I not getting fuel?
- Check fuses (chassis and engine harness) and relays.
- Make sure your engine harness and transmission/o2 harness are a matching pair.
- Why do my RPMs look wrong?
- Make sure you have converted your gauge cluster to a 6-Cylinder version, or use a tachometer adapter.
- What accelerator pedal should I use?
- The E46 an E39 pedals can all be used. (Standard kit)
- A remote Z3 or E39 pedal can be used too. (Optional kit)

- Can I use air-conditioning?
- We offer an A/C module which will allow A/C to work normally.
- Will all of the original gauges work?
- Only the fuel economy gauge will not work.
- The Check-Engine light also will not work without a CAN-bus emulator.
